Viloxazine, VIVARINT, information??

Posted by adamie on May 1, 2002, at 21:34:56

hi. i need to try a new medication and fast.

I have been given Viloxazine from a friend. I dont see my new pdoc until 1 month from now so i have to try something now. right now i take ativan 3 times a day lowest dose, risperdal .5mg or 5mg, and some l-tyrosine. without risperdal i am livable but feel EXtremely bad. with risperdal the first 4-5 hours of the day are hell and get better later on. overall i think i am better off without it. i certainly need something better. so i plan to stop it tonight.

i am having trouble finding information on Viloxazine or Vivarint. has anyone taken this? where can i find information? it's supossed to be european i think. is it sedating or stimulating or neighter? i need something in between. i cant stand feeling tired allllllllllllllll day like on zyprexa. and some stimulating meds like prozac and effexor made me feel suicidal mind torture after taking them.

so please tell me about Viloxazine.

Hi Adam. Sorry to hear you're still not feeling much better. I know nothing about viloxazine except what I've read & that's all I can pass onto you. Here's the links for the info:

hi
viloxazine is, like reboxetine, a noradrenaline-reuptake-inhibitor (NRI or NARI). reboxetine is simply the phenyl-derivative of viloxazine. it is not approved here in austria, but i think it's in use in germany. i remember that the drug-company that sells reboxetin there claimed to market the first NRI, but that wasn't true, because viloxazine was first.
and-i think it can increase the blood-levels of carbamazepine (i'm not absolutely sure about this effect, but i remember there is an interaction with one of the more widely used antiepileptis/mood stabilizers)
hope this helps

Adam, I'd suggest sending an e-mail to xxx a bonafide pharmacy in Spain. Presecriptions are needed so this ISN'T a source where you can order meds (in case Dr. Bob thinks I'm telling you how). But if you e-mail them your question on minimum dose etc, they should be properly qualified to give you a more accurate answer plus address any other concerns you have about the med.
