Hi,
I read somewhere above that you are tapering off Effexor and have been able to cut your tablets in half - so are you taking regular Effexor, not the XR version? I ask because I'm on EffexorXR and it is in capsule form and I've been told by several sources (including on here!) NOT to open up and try to split a capsule's ingredients into two halves. Also, I didn't know there even is a regular (non-XR) Effexor, so I'm just wondering how you are managing to reduce your pills? Thanks!

Sorry, I am a pharmacist and was on Effexor too. I read about that issue (not opening capsules and splitting them) and made it indead with more succes coming off Effexor than with regular Tabs! You can open the XR 75 or 150 mg Caps and split in: 3/4 or 2/3 or 1/2 or 1/3 or 1/4 and refill it in the original capsule. IT is still XR then ! WHY IT SHOULD NOT ! There is no damage to this delivery system !

Hi Janelle,
I've been on 225 mgs of Effexor XR, yes. But I have a small supply of the 37.5 mg Effexor tablets, which I have been splitting up.
I'm on my third day of no Effexor at all! I feel like I have the flu, and I'm crying over everything, like newspaper articles in the Living section of the paper! Even the ads are making me weepy. I think it's kind of hilarious.
Good luck!
Sarah
