I know that Depakote is used as a mood stabilzer and that it is not indicated as an antidepressant. However, I have read that it can actually stop rapid cycling and mixed states in bipolar II thereby eliminating a depressive episode. Does anyone have experience with this effect of Depakote as somewhat of an antidepressant?

I took one 150 mg pill of depakote and for the peak 3 hrs could not communicate that I was awake -- my eyes were closed and I was immobile and drooling but I was awake and not happy about it. After that I could grunt. After 8 hrs I could stand up. It wore off completely about 16 hrs later and I will never try it again.
I think that's the lowest dose, if you try it, don't start any higher.
