Klonopin,Serzone,Ambien

Posted by AnxiousBea on September 1, 2002, at 15:02:25

This is the first time I am posting. After being diagnosed wih depression with anxiety, I am on .5mg Klonopin 2/day and just started Serzone at 50 mg 2/day for 5 days and then the doses will be elevated from there. On top of this I am taking Ambiene and will be talking this for 15 days until the effect of the Serzone kicks in ( I hope). I am very concerened with all this medication I am taking, although 12 years ago I had a panic disorder ( lasted about 1 1/2 years)where I can honestly say that klonopin saved my life. The anxiety is managable now but I cannot sleep unless I take ambien. With out it, if I am able to sleep I wake up at 11:00AM, 2:00AM etc. This last year was a year that tremendous amount of pressure for me and before I realized it I had over extended myself physically and emotionally. I have been on klonopin for two weeks and the doctor just added the Serzone and the ambien. Needless to say I am in a dull somewaht drugged state of mind ( but much better the the state of anxiety i was in) I guess I am just looking for reassurance that at some point I will return to a normal state of health ( with more awareness of what stress can do to the mind and body). Hope to hear from those that have been on these meds, hoping for some positive feedback...

Seems to me that the ambien is absolutely unnecessary. It does nothing the klonopin can't do better and it will just add to your drugged state. When you've been on the Serzone for a few weeks, and if you feel it's working, you might try weaning off the klonopin. If the anxiety comes back, you can always go back on. Also, if you feel the serzone is doing nothing, you may like to try another AD. Serzone has been linked to liver problems.

Try and hang in there with the Serzone...yes like.. Guy.. said it has been linked to liver problems in some people and your doc should follow you with blood work ie. LFTS ..but if this happens and if it does it happens early in treatment..you will know it ...you have to give the meds time to 'kick 'in..good luck..
