Hi everyone,
I have been on Effexor for about a year and a half and am happy with the result.
However I have been getting these pimple rashes that appear either behind my ear, on my back or on my chest.
They itch and look like acne.
I have seen the dermatologist and creams just don't seem to work. I wonder if it is related to the effexor and would like to find out if anyone else has been getting these rashes while on effexor.
I'd hate to switch medications just because of this.

I have had the exact type of acne type rash. I have been on Effexor (75mg.) for a little over a month and have this acne rash on my jaw line, neck, chest and back. Nothing I seem to do to get rid of it is working. I usually have a clear complexion. I can see that the previous post has been to the dermatologist and used various creams and that has not helped. I wonder if anyone has had any luck using anything else. I don't want to stop taking the Effexor because it is working but this acne I must say is really getting on my nerves and I can't just live with it. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I have eczema type blotches all over my body the eruption of which coincided with the starting of Nortriptyline (Pamelor) and Lithium Carbonate. They itch

I don't believe this. I had the same thing on my jaw-line and neck also and very itchy. I dropped Effexor back to 75 mg because I was so drowsy all the time and the rash is much decreased. I was given creams also by my dermatologist. I can't keep up with that kind of goo so it wasn't helping much. She thought it was acne, but I never got acne there before.

I've been on effexor XR 37.5 mg of 3 months, and I'm starting to get acne on my nose - really odd.. I didn't make the connection until I read this thread... weird stuff these meds...

I had the same rash with Effexor and got off of it thinking I was having some allergic reaction. Went on Zoloft instead, which eventually also gave me sporadic red blotches that were itchy and acne on my chest and back and along my jawline. I have been on Zoloft for 9 months and now the rash only comes a few days after I adjust the med up or down. Apparently it is not a dangerous allergic reaction, but there is nothing to make them go away. You just have to ride it out.
