SSRI's don't agree, will Tofranil (sp) work for panic/anxiety?

I've been on Tofranil (imipramine) for 13 years. Excellent drug for anxiety. From my personal experience with being on different drugs, including the SSRI's, the older drugs work better for me. I have less side effects with this drug, compared to the SSRI's.

Thank you so much for your reply. My mother has been on Imprimine for many years for depression but my sister's pdoc wants to put her on it because she is having a lot of trouble finding an SSRI that will work for her. I went with her to her pdoc yesterday and he said that we wanted to switch to the TCA (?) type meds. I suffer from anxiety/panic and I'm not wild about SSRI's either. They make me feel sluggish and the weight gain is horrible. I really hope this med works for her and if it does, I will be asking for a change in meds for myself. I'm glad that this is working for you also! It gives me hope.
