I've been on lamictal since 8-5-2002. I was on depakote after a mixed episode which helped the anxiety and related stuff but not mood and mental clarity.
I seemed very sensitive to it (made me somewhat manicky feeling) and went up very slowly (by 6.25 mg every few days to start). As I was increasing the dose it would make me anxious/hyper/agitatged feeling. Finally got to 50mg 10-22-2002 and things were much better within a week. (Note: because the depakote can almost double the levels of lamictal this is approx. equal to 100mg for someone else)
Mood is much better and mind is much clearer - I can find words/form words/organize thoughts.
May still need to adjust it some but overall feeling good with no current side effects. Still have that "hope" that I will find some way to do without meds but for now this is a wonderful one.

I'm mixed right now. For a while ( about a month) Lamictal was a miracle. Now it's faded out a bit. What I find is that when I take it in the am 400mg, in about 1 hour it kicks in and I feel clear, motivated, and active. It then fades out in the late afternoon. I'm still cycling every 4 days as well. Recently added 600mg of Lithium. Hopefully this will help.

I tried it and started with a 25mg dose, right away I felt calm and even and slept.
But, the next morning, my right ear turned red and I started itching all over my body.
I knew it would work for me, but....the whole rash thing might get in the way.
After a week, I tried again, this time I cut the 25mg pill into 4ths and took 5mg. I started itching right away and my ear is still red.I am also on Prozac and Wellabutrin, not sure how these mix together.
Good luck to ya!

Its the only medicine I care for and has
lasted for me.

in and out, too many to list.
> 3)Side effects
sometimes a slight headache and double vision
(when making dose change), but usually none.> 4)Any other relevant info (handling stress, able to work, etc.)
Its a moderate AD effect and at the higher dose
I am finding it is working well to combat manic
symptoms (lithium doesn't work for me).>

It is the best thing that has happened to me in years. I take 400 mg with 600 mg lithium (recent studies have shown that the li-li combo may be very effective). Almost no side effects except for temporary headache upon increasing dosage. No Weight Gain!!!
