Could someone tell me the normal dose of lithium?
My pdoc is going to add a "small dose" of lithium to my 75mg desipramine. I am very sensitive to meds and am wondering what a small dose is? I am not bipolar, but seem to have an underlying anger and irritation. Pdoc said lithium boosts serotonin levels. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks, Angel1

Thanks, Angel1Hi, some folks can perceive a good benefit from just 300mg a day. 450-600mg/day is more commonly used (on the low side). To get well into the "therapeutic range" it usually takes 600-1200mg/day. If you are super med sensitive and you are just augmenting for unipolar depression, you could even take just 150mg/day and see how you react to it (they make 300mg generic scored tabs).
