new to geodon- will sleepiness subside?

Posted by babs on January 27, 2003, at 17:50:50

I'm in the process of switching from risperdal to geodon. I started taking the geodon Friday and I am very sleepy. I've napped every day so far (Sunday it was a four hour nap!) so I'm wondering will this subside? I know I can take it at night before bed but my pdoc wants me to split my dose, at least for awhile.

Also my pdoc started me on 40 mg (not 20) Could that be why I'm so sleepy? I really hope this doesn't persist as I'm really hoping the geodon will work. Thanks babs

The sedation with subside with time. With each increase of dose it may return for a few days (or even a couple weeks). I now take 120 mg and experience no sedation. When I first started a year ago on 20 mg I experienced a lot of sedation.
