after three weeks on the nardil, i've had sexual dysfunction, insomnia, and now random tightening of and contraction of my muscles. My parents think I sound worse on the phone than before I started it; i can certainly say I'm no better. should I stay on this shit? (ps four years of trials, nardil is the only thing thats ever worked- for about three weeks initially before pooping out. if this doesn't work, i may go back to trying some tca, and giving them each more time. Anyone out there have trouble responding to meds even with long trials. I hatew feeling like I could be wasting my time now, and that I should for the parnate instead. it's just so difficult giving mees time, when the nardil kicked in immediately, before any discouraging side effects. thanks

I know it's hard but try to stick with it a few more weeks... Mine kicked in a little over 4 weeks and I am glad I didn't quit on it

It took 3 months of waiting for me, before I knew if nardil was working. WOW does it ever work good! You should start noticing miniscule improvements that gradually become more pronounced. All of a sudden you will find yourself doing things that you have'nt felt like doing in years, decades! You'll become so outgoing and confident that you will get phone numbers of beautiful girls while filling your tank at the gas station! Hang in there!

I just thought I'd let you know how important Vitamin B-6 is when taking nardil. My Pdoc told me to take 50 to 100 mg. nightly.
This is so important. If you don't take the B6 you will get the most horrendous leg cramps. Or at least I did. As soon as I missed a dose of B6 the cramps would come right back.

For what its worth ... nardil has been has been one of the few medications to help me (ECT and Imipramine + Lithium helped to). When I first started nardil, I titrated up to 60mgs and was on that for 4 weeks without results. I went up to 75mg and felt worse (if I go too high on an antidepressant I feel worse) for one week. I was ready to give up and stop the medication then .... was basically just waiting to see my pdoc to switch off of it. Then a few days later I felt much better. Finally after 6 weeks the nardil kicked in. So, in my case, nardil took much longer to kick in that other medications. I am lucky I stayed on nardil and was forced to give it more time. Otherwise I probably would be doing ECT for life .... that is the only other thing that has been helpful.

Just an observation from me is maybe since you have taken Nardil before it is taking longer to kick in this time... I have heard of Nardil kicking in immediately for some people but most on the board seem to take 4-6 weeks

for me ive been on nardil for about 7-8 weeks. I have periods like after one hour of taking it when i feel ok, even elated. After about 4 hours I feel worst, like all the side effects come rushing back. I too feel like giving up, but I dont want to. Can you tell me how much you are taking??

OK- lets be patient. It took 6 weeks for me and 4 of those weeks were at 60mg. I know it's annoying but please have faith in this chemical wonder. I hope your at least at 60mg by now. It could take another 3/4 weeks. DON'T GIVE UP. When it kicks in - and I doubt it will take longer than 3/4 more weeks - you'll know it big time!
Nardil has been bliss for me, and remained faithful that it would work even at 5 weeks 6 days. NEVER LOSE FAITH!
Ace.
Nardil, 90mg.
