I am reluctant to try to augment Nardil with atypical antipsychotics for my oCD. At least first line....
Please wright down ANY anti-ocd drugs, AD's or mood stabilizers. In addition psychostimulants.
Just wright down any friggin' drug I can take with Nardil.. I'll do the rest by researching it's use in OCD.
Thanks my brothers and sisters,
From Ace,
Your little NARDIL lover, 105mg.

Ace,
Here are some. Please check w/ your p.doc, though, w/ any of the online 'suggestions'. [standard disclaimer]
Off the top of my head:
1. Risperdal (risperidone) - probably low amounts, .5 to 2 mg/day (I think I took up to 1mg a day, but didn't give it a fair trial to work on 'ocd' type stuff. I may have had a placebo response, but not certain)2. Zyprexa (olanzapine?)- as far as I know, it's OK; haven't tried it
3. Klonopin (clonazepam) - a benzo, watch for sedation and potential addiction. Start real low, like 1/4 of .50 mg. [Also, all benzos]
4. Lithium (I believe I took up to 1200 mg/day eons ago, for six months. Caused some skin problems, went off, didn't see a 'worsening' of symptoms after going off; but it did cause weight gain, which, at the time, I loved.) Blood levels need to be checked for this, and thyroid functions; perhaps liver too.
5. Tegretol (monitor blood levels/liver also)
6. Cytomel (a thyroid hormone, synthetic? - used to potentiate MAO-Is and other A.D.s)
-----------------------------------------
***7. Stimulants - risky territory. Had a doc. who was willing to consider that in the late '80s, but I declined. The PDR (Pharmaceutical Desk Reference manual) will probably list it as contraindicated. Only use with EXTREME CAUTION!***8. TCAs: tricyclic anti-depressants. Same as above.
That's it for now. Good luck!

Hi Ace, I know you may know some of this:
AVOID:Foods that have high levels of tyramine Avoid the cheeses, including american, blue, boursault, brick, brie, camembert, cheddar, emmenthaler, gruyere, mozzarella, parmesan, romano, roquefort, stilton, and swiss,
sour cream and yogurt, beef or chicken liver, fish, meats prepared with tenderizer, bologna, pepperoni, salami, summer sausage, game meat, meat extracts, caviar, dried fish, herring, and shrimp, avocados, bananas, figs, raisins, and sauerkraut, soy sauce, miso soup, bean curd, fava beans:
· yeast extracts;
· ginseng;
· chocolate;
· caffeine (coffee, tea, cola, etc.); and
· beer (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), red wine (especially Chianti), sherry, vermouth, and other distilled spirits.
BUT,
Does this help a little>>***Medicines can cause severe reactions if they are taken with phenelzine. Do not take any prescription or over-the-counter medicine without the approval of your doctor. I have never been on Nardil, but I looked this up for you, wish I could help you more, others may know a lot more.
Take it easy:-)
Kristen
