Posted by Tepiaca on March 14, 2003, at 12:21:07

I dont know guys. But Im scared about my situation . I cant find the solution to my problem. its been 8 long years without find
something that really helps me. I know others
with similar problems.
Do you think there are enough drugs on the market to treat all the mental illness?
I cant resist living like this . Maybe Im never gonna be ok. This is hard. Maybe the drug that migth help me its not still in the market or I dont know.
Just sharing my thoughts

There are very few "cures" for mental illness, but there are very very few cases of mental illness that can't be greatly improved. Eight years is a long time to find the right treatment but sometimes it takes that long or longer. Let us know about your illness and the things you've tried. A lot of people will be able to give support and suggestions.

Have you tried all the possibilities with SSRIs, TCAs, MAOIs, anti-convulsants, Lithium, APs, benzos, stimulants, T3, ECT? There are others. Have you tried opioids like buprenorphine or tramadol?

Be agressive with your treatment. Find a psychiatrist who is willing to do "whatever it takes".

Life will get better.

Well in the first 3 years , I tried SSRIS prozac
an altruline most of the time , and did not help
me nothing , then later I used benzos , and tryciclics . I had a very very deep depresion , and hidden psychotic symptomps that my doctor never realized that I had then , even thought he gave me Risperdal , but it did not help . I was very desperate , One time i took one cup of acid
and I enden in the hospital , other two times I tried to kill myself hanging on the bathtub , unfortunately I missed. I stayed 2years witouht see any doctors I dint want more medicines because they didnt help. Then my parent took again with my first doctor and gave me Zyprexa and was the first Drug that help me a little bit
I was on it by one year , then I changed to seroquel and stayed on it for 2 years . They have help me , but Im not fine yet. I have not psycotic symptomps now , Im only taking effexor and clonazepam , because I have a Severe Social Phobia , but I still cant have a normal life . I also suffer from hypothiroidism.
I never have tried a MAOI or and stimulant , I dont know is this might be helpfull for my SP . Clonazepam It not making what I want to do.
Im always alone . I cant even talk to my family , Im very scared . My life is a shit . Suicide
I think is the only exit , I dont want to live like this anymore , Im exausted

My heart goes out to you. I too have been in very desperate places where all seems hopeless. I've finally found the right med combo, but it took my refusal to give up and loudly insist to my HMO customer care that I get quality help!!

What's clear from your post is that it sounds like you need better and more consistent care than you're getting. It seems very spotty and cavalier. Perhaps you're not impressing on your caretakers that you're in as terrifying a place as you are. If you're hypothyroid (I am also) then you'll need to explore the many varied forms of thyroid replacement therapy. Most doctors just give good old thyroxine T4 when many of us also need T3. There could be a dietary/allergic component. You may have a nutritional deficiency. Whatever is going on, it's obvious that there's something very out of whack with your biochemistry. But these things can be healed.

You simply must insist, be aggressive, a pain in the ass, a squeaky wheel, but you must get yourself into the hands of a competant and caring health professional. This may seem like more than you can handle right now, but it's something you simply have to fight for - your life. These are just chemicals run amok and they can be brought into line once you get a competant doc on your side who really listens and knows their stuff.
