Greetings,
I suffer from moderate GAD/SP which I treat fairly successfully with 0.5 mg Klono / day. I also have poor short & long-term memory and have difficulty with concentration, drive & focus. So while the Klono has been great for lifting the anxiety, it has done little to clear the mental fog.
I recently ordered a pack of 40 X 300mg Adrafinil and should receive it any day now (I hope!). I would appreciate any comments on either Adrafinil or Modafinil in terms of efficacy, required dosage and appropriateness for long-term use as a psycho-stimulant. Has anyone tried either drug in combination with Klonopin?

Provigil (modafinil) worked well for me together with K, and increased my motivation and energy without causing anxiety. From what I understand, adrafinil is its "parent" drug, and has similar effects. I switched to Adderall because Provigil didn't help enough with focus (for ADD), but I'd certainly take it again for its other benefits.
I have seen some concerns about liver damage with adrafinil, so that might be something to monitor. This doesn't seem to be an issue with modafinil. Provigil is expensive in the U.S., but doctors (at least pdocs) seem to have lots of free samples and it's not very controlled. So, you might see if you can get some to try from your doctor -- my pdoc was happy to hand it out.

Thanks for your input. I'm in France so have access to relatively inexpensive Olmifon (Adrafinil). If I want Provigil I have to buy it over the net and the price is just too high to justify even the "starter pack" needed to give the med a proper test-run.
So I'll give Adrafinil a try for a few weeks and see what happens. If it's really the bee's knees for energy & drive I may be tempted to spend the extra $$$ and give the "cleaner" Provigil a go.

Besides energy and alertness, for me the Provigil actually enhances Klonopin's anxiolytic effect by making me more assertive, outgoing and sociable. I initially took the standard dose of 200 mg, but found that 100 usually does the trick, and without the small amount of jitteriness 200 occasionally added. Alas, Provigil provides no respite from the memory lapses I suffer, presumably from the otherwise greatly-beneficial Klonopin (1 mg/day).
If you end up trying Provigil, and find that 100 mg works for you too, see if you can get your doctor to prescribe the 200 mg pills anyway. They're scored and easy to snap in half, and you'll save LOADS of cash that way (especially if your prescription is actually for 200 mg/day ;) )

I agree with Rick -- if you do go with modafinil (Olmifron in France, I think), get the highest dose possible, then divide as necessary (to save money). The tabs are very easy to split; 100 mg/day was about right for me, but I'd try 50 mg first. It definitely increased confidence and motivation for me, and mixed very well with clonazepam.

Which one did you decide on? Do you need a prescription in France to buy Adrafinil and how much is it?
