I'm new to this board and have been posting a lot of questions so for those who have noticed, please excuse my lack of knowledge and bear with me.
I was wondering about the effectiveness of Wellbutrin and Effexor and whether anyone has experienced or knows if it causes WEIGHT GAIN. I have gone from my normal 115lbs (I'm 5'4") to a massive 175lbs is just 2 years. I need to lose this weight!!
I am not a big eater to begin with and I eat healthy. I don't have binge problems or increased appetite due to meds. I also am not a snacker AT ALL.
I have been diagnosed with 'Adjustment Disorder with mixed anxiety and depressed mood'.
Of the med I have found that are prescribed for this disorder I have taken Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft (not to mention others). I just weaned myself off of Risperdal due to unwanted side effects and I am currently down to 1.5mg from 3mg of Lexapro (weaning myself off of this as well). I also take Tranxene for anxiety ~~ which is ineffective.
Thanks, Lainy

Effexor is known to contribute to weight gain, but only about 10-15 pounds. I am not familiar with the other meds. you are taking. Perhaps when you get them filled you can ask the pharmacist to give you the list of side effects. You can also probably find them on a web site for the home page of those meds too.
Are you able to get any exercise? Although the meds might make you feel hungry, you control what you eat and how many calories you burn. Sounds like you are a healthy eater, but you didn't mention any routine for fitness. Maybe even just walking a bit would help. Remember, drinking lots of water helps to reduce the hunger pains - as does eating more smaller meals throughout the day. Good luck.
This is the end of the thread.
