I switched for Lexapro 30mg daily to Wellbutrin 300mg daily 11 days ago. After about my seventh day I have been having such major anxiety/panic that It's difficult to get out of bed just to get a drink.
Has anyone else experienced this with Wellbutrin or know of anyone who has.
Since it takes 6-8weeks to reach its optimum effectiveness I didn't think side effects would begin to show so early on.
I'm also on 3mg of Klonopin.

I just began taking Wellbutrin slightly more than a week ago. I began at 100mg/day and today raised it to 150mg/day.
I'm also taking 300mg of Effexor. I have experienced some anxiety--found that it doesn't really mix very well with coffee, but in general I can't complain too much yet
about the side effects. Just my own opinion, but it seems like maybe your doctor should have built your doseage up gradually and tapered you off the Lexapro. Just an uninformed opinion.
Good luck.

Wellbutrin is one of the few antidepressants that does not block panic attacks, so it is not usually considered the best choice for someone with anxiety.

Wellbutrin had the most awful experience with Wellbutrin. The Dr. had me start at 150mg for three days then upped it to 300mg. I absolutely went insane. I panicked about death and couldn't stop crying for like a week straight. I felt like a zombie- it was awful.
I then quit cold turkey and went on Lexapro- it helped but made me very tired I had to quit that too.

Wellbutrin gave me serious night terrors. I've never before or since had anything like that. I can see where it could cause ugly anxiety problems. Maybe it's not for you. We all have had paradoxical negative side effects with one med or another. You're not crazy, some meds just don't go with some people. The whole game here is to get the benefit you want from a medication without intolerable side effects. You are the one who decides what is intolerable.

>Well......yeaaaaah. I got painfully agitated and got off it right away. Some of this stuff can kill you if you don't pay attention. Taking Celexa which is a good remedy.

Well, I came close to going to the hospital. I was in bed for 6 days with such extreme panic one would think I'd lost my mind (which I suppose I had), or just committed a murder or other severe criminal offense. The panic and fear was too intense for words to properly express.
Then last night, it just lifted. Out of nowhere it was gone. Mind you now I haven't been able to sleep for 2 nights.
I think what helped was I restarted my Lexapro --- without my doctors advice..what an idiot! And she'll probably be angry. I'll be seeing a new doctor in a couple of weeks.
I am SOOOOO AFRAID of my attack resurfacing!!! It was the most horrible feeling I've ever experienced...and do I have stories!
Lord, I pray, and please pray for me that the horrid attack I had doesn't resurface!

In reply to lainy,
How are you doing on lexpro. I can understand that panic fear. I started Lexpro 1 month and 1 week ago. Weened off of paxil which stopped working for me about a year ago. I was on that for 1 year. I am thinking about you and wishing you luck. Is this the first experience you have had with panic or have you been diagnosed with panic disorder? Good luck.

Did you stop taking the Lexapro when the panic went away?

I was in bed for 6 days, unable to help myself although I wanted to so much! It was more like intense fear --- like somethng horrible had happened or I found I that myself or one of my children were found to be terminally ill.
I restarted the Lexapro and Risperdal and I've been fine since. I have an appointment with a new pdoc in Sept. so I hope to find a solution that works for me.
This is the end of the thread.
