I went through many of the SSRIs, and can tell you i found real relief from depression from an MAOI, in my case, Parnate. For me, there is no comparison and i think you will find a lot of people on MAOIs now have the same story as mine. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Nardil was totally ineffective for me, at a dose of 120mg. It caused the same side effects as the SSRIs, but at least the SSRIs helped my anxiety a little. I'm sure MAOIs are worth a try, but don't get your hopes up like I did, or you may be in for a huge let down.

I've had 20 years experience with MAOI Parnate and consider it a lifesaver. Last year, I tried Remeron (which pooped out) and then Zoloft, which did nothing for my anxiety or insomnia, killed off sexual libido and took many weeks to kick in. I will never try an SSRI again and hope that Parnate will be around forever. MAOI anti-depressants have fabulous results for many people, but as you can see, not everyone likes them or gets good results.
