Provigil - Not smooth delivery so far

Posted by PhilipCarey on August 9, 2003, at 16:30:22

This is the third day of my Provigil trial,

First day, only took 25mgs. I usually like to try something at way lower than what is considered a therapeutic dose. My reaction that day was: felt really good, almost euphoric about an hour after I took it. That good feeling lasted maybe an hour and a half, I then started coming down, and an hour later was profoundly tired for around an hour and a half. Then I seemed to have my normal, baseline mood.

The next day, tried 50mgs. Pretty much a repeat of the first day.

Today, I upped it to 100mg at around 10 a.m. An hour and a half later, felt pretty good, though not the euphoria of the first day (though this was perhaps deeper and better). Then around 1:00 p.m. took another 50mgs. By 2:30 felt fully awake and good (not manic though). By 3:30(now seeming like clockwork - 2 hours after dosing) starting to come down.

The good thing is that today, even though I seem to cycle through this pretty rapidly -- and I though that Provigil *would NOT* cause these spikes and dips --, when I come down, it wasn't the truely profound fatigue that I felt the first couple of days.

Tommorrow, I'll try 100mgs in the a.m., and another 100 shortly after noon.

I guess I'm still hopeful about this, but I sure hope its delivery will smooth out.

Has anybody else experienced the spike and dip early on with Provigil, only to have its delivery smooth out with continued use?

Would love to hear a success story.

Provigil generally must be taken on a regular basis for a week or so before blood levels become stable -- stick with the 100mg/AM and 100mg/PM and see how that works out after four or five days.
