Posted by harlie on September 1, 2003, at 18:45:44

Effexor has worked very very good for me-I am on my 4'th week and after months of not working I am back to my old self.I am on 300mg a day-It is a miracle.I am going to write a letter to the manufacture to thank them.Thank God-Give it a try and take the bad stuff you read here with a huge grain of salt.No side effects after the first week.

I'm glad it is working! I have never tried it but it's often considered to be the most effective antidepressant. I'm doing great on Lexapro, But if I ever beome unhappy with it, I would try Effexor.

I have been on Effexor XR for two years and it has truely given me my life back. I dread the day I ever have to stop taking it (if ever...my pdoc says to not worry about that as long as I am tolerating it ok). I have only had to increase it once the whole time I have been on it and no noticable weight gain from it like all the other AD's I have been on (just started on Topamax to try to undo some of the weight gain damage from those earlier, less effective meds).
