> About 1 1/2 years ago my doctor put me on Zoloft for depression and anexity attacks but they were not severe, and it was great for awhil, but towards the end my anexity started to come back and even worse. So my doctor then upped my meds on zoloft. Boy that was a bummer I blew up like a balloon and made me tired all the time.. So she then started to whim me of the zoloft to about 50mgs and then started me on wellbutrion. after one week of being off the zoloft with no withdraw except some mood effects she then put me on buspar for the anexity part and the wellbuterion for the depression. I did not notice a difference of being on the buspar at all, I was taking that for about 7 weeks. So she then kept me on the wellbutrion and but me on the lexpro. I have been taking it now for 8 days, and to be quite honest I have not expierenced any side effects at all. Does this mean this is another med that does not work for me. I do not like trying out all these meds not knowing what will work ya know. Its kinda fustrating. Im still having the mood to where everything bothers me, nothing is really funny to me any more, and I jsut dont care what I look like. I never used to be like that. I am 23 years old and I always liked getting dressed up to go out and now....i dont care.. Can some one try t ohelp me to relate to whats going on?
> Thanks

Lexapro is the drug I take. I take 20 mg each day. It has worked great for both my anxiety and depression. It's also the only drug I take for mood. Give the Lexapro some more time to work. The starting dose is 10 mg, but some doctors will start people on 5 mg and then go up to 10. Have you been on 10? Give it at least a few weeks to work.

Hi Bill,
I'm wondering what the most common Lexapro dosage is (most folks seem to take 10 mg...but is 15 or even 20mg common?)
I used to take 100 mg of Zoloft..that was a good dosage of that for me. What would be a fairly equivalent dose of Lex for someone who took 100 mg of Zoloft? I'm on 10 mg right now and that may be too little. Thanks!

You might very well need a higher dose. I would think that if 10 mg is not working well after a couple of months, then 15 or 20 should be tried. The highest dose pill is 20 mg for Lexapro. But some people might need more than that.

If your depression and anxiety were not severe why don't you consider to quit the meds ? Sometimes, and it's just my experience, mild depression and mild anxiety are easier to tolerate then meds. good luck

My doc started me on the 10 mg of Lexapro.. But I was just asking because from what a lot of people on here talk about is their side effects for the first few weeks.!! how its very hard to tolerate it. I was woundering that if I havent had any side effects does it mean that this drug is not going to work for me?? By the way how is your energy level on lexapro?

If you're not having side-effects this doesn't mean the drug will not work ... To know if an antidepressant works or doesn't for you you should wait some week (at least 2-3). If the drug doesn't kick in two months you can be quite sure the drug wouldn't work in a longer period. anyway don't worry about the absence of side-effetcs: it doesn't mean anything. I have been on Celexa (a drug very similar to Lexapro) and I didn't experience side-effects at all except tiredness. Good luck !
