whoa, i hate wellbutrin. i forgot what being anxious was like, after a long time on a mild dose of effexor. then i added wellbutrin to the mix, cuz i wanted to see if it would beat my winterblahs. by day 5 i was FREAKING. i couldn't even begin to imagine taking the 200 mgs that the doc wanted me titrate up to; what a mess that would be!
it didn't do much for my blues.
i don't think anything will, except spring.
peace.

I can relate. I am on day 10. I have to add a benzo to the mix, because of the tremors and tachycardia. Wow, this stuff is rough to adjust.

I couldn't agree more. I have never been able to get above 50 mgs Wellbutrin SR (My Pdoc said it's ok to split the tablet). Anytime, I have tried to titrate up to 100 mgs or even 75mgs. I am so PARALYZED by anxiety it is ridiculous. My Pdoc said this would go away in a week or so but it was so bad that I could not make it through one day feeling like that. I though I was the only one who experienced that side effect because several people I know rave about Wellbutrin.

What is the mild dose of Effexor you are taking?
I'm currently taking 37.5 Effexor XR and my dr suggested trying Wellbutrin XL 150 starting next week, (after I taper off the Effexor 37.5)
I like Effexor except that I am always tired in the afternoon and wake up every night at 3am for some reason. I guess if one doesn't mind sleeping your life away except for 3am, Effexor is great. It really cured my depression and anxiety (I took 112.5 for the most of the time).
Just curious of any other experience with Effexor and Wellbutrin.

The thing I find amusing about Wellbutrin is that it only comes in large doses. Obviously, the maker doesn't feel that small doses are appropriate. This is especially true with the SR and new CL versions where the smallest available doses are 100 and 150mg respectively. It's annoying to me that I continually have to chop pills up into quarters.

does WB work with low doses for you? I just got off 150 XL but there was some things that I liked about it. The anxiety was not one of them.

Yeah, it does something. Nothing does enough anymore though, and I really can't tolerate these drugs at "therapeutic doses" any longer.

Me too - you've lots of company! I can tolerate 50-75mg Wellbutrin a day with 10mg Valium, 100 is really pushing it, but I still feel shaky and have trouble sleeping on the low doses. It's a shame, because I like the good effects - more enthusiasm, pleasure, even joy - I actually gained weight on it (most people drop) because I got my appetite back!
As someone else said, you can't get anything less than 100 mg SR (no non-SR in Canada at least), so I used a pill splitter. One comment: I've heard you should use the split as soon as possible - not split a whole bunch ahead of time - as some coated meds deteriorate quickly when exposed to air.

Try the new XL version. When I first tried Wellbutrin SR 100mg I hated it, dropped to 50mg (split one in half). Then after 1 week went to 100mg, then one more week to 150mg. When the XL came out I started with the 150mg and then straight to the 300mg today as a matter of fact. I have been getting my nerve up to move up and this morning decided it's now or never. I feel great, no extra anxiety, just more energy to do things and get organized. 300mg is the theraputic dose but I could never go there with the SR version with the twice a day dosing and overall freaky feeling. The XL once a day is much smoother, completely different release.

thanks for the advice about XL, but it isn't available in canada as of yet.
