I've been pretty dizzy for about 5 months now. It began when I was really sick back in August, and didn't take my effexor for a few days. I got dizzy, but as my cold got better, my dizziness got better, but never went away all together.
So in Dec, I get sick again, and the dizziness starts again, but with a headache & sore lymph nodes. It wasn't a bad cold and I took my effexor every day. I only miss a dose every once in a while and have been taking 150 mg every day for about 7 months.
My "dizziness" sounds a lot like brain shivers, but with the headache too, I'm not quite sure. And like I said, I'm still on the drug. They feel like my brain is moving inside my head at a different rate then I move my head - or - worms racing through the top of my brain - or - pressure of something moving in a big clump across the top of my head. I have had a pretty constant headache for the past 4 weeks or so. My lymph nodes were sore under my arms for about a week when I was sick. I wasn't too sick, and I thought that was an exptreme reaction. I've also been noticing at times when I get a really dizzy reaction my right eye blacks out a bit. I also seem to have a weird twitching/moving thing with my right leg.
I have taken Alivert (sp?) which is an anti-dizzy medication and didn't help at all. I should be getting an MRI soon so I hope to find out more.
I can't stop taking this because it's helping so much. I'm in constant pain in my pelvis and this is the only thing that keeps me from cutting my pelvis out :(

In reply to Are my symptoms really just brain shivers?, posted by soremama on January 5, 2004, at 13:42:26
I've found that if you miss a dose or two of Effexor and then get right back on it, the discontinuation effects disappear very quickly. Sounds like the MRI is your best bet right now. Good luck and let everyone here now how things work out!
