Are there any Tranxene users out there? I keep hearing about Klonopin, but what about Tranxene. Its a great benzo and is the least addictive. I dont think it gets the respect that it should get. I have taken Klonopin, ativan, and valium ----to me tranxene is far more superior than any of those, especially klonopin. (just my opinion) I take 15 mgs 3 times daily. AM i the only one who still takes it?

Tranxene is still commonly prescribed (my aunt takes it, for example). It definitely has more potential for abuse than Klonopin, though. It's very similar in effect to Valium (I believe it may even be a Valium metabolite?) and is fast-acting, although, like Valium, it does have a long half-life.
The true forgotten benzo is Paxipam (halazepam) -- I've yet to meet one person other than myself who's taken it.

I believe it's a benzo and not even available (legally) in the US. I took one once on an overnight international flight and it clobbered me. When I told my pdoc that I had tried it, he mentioned that I was the first person that he had come across in his practice that had ever taken it. (I got that one pill from my mother in law who lives overseas and who has a similar aversion to flying that I do). It had a sedating effect that was unbelieveable and actually kind of scary...
