> dunno if this is the right forum for this but lately i've been sweating in my sleep. i thought this was because i fell asleep fully dressed a few times but last night i wore PJs and it still happened. my room isn't over-heated--in fact, i keep it kind of chilly. i have really deep dreams and maybe that's it but i don't know.... i recently screwed up my medication by mistake, taking 80 of prozac instead of 40 and am now coming back down... has anyone experienced this kind of thing for whatever reasons? what was the cause of it?

Excess sweating can be a side effect of antidepressants. How long did you take the douple doses of Prozac & how many double doses did you take? The double doses will be pretty harmeless, but, it can take up to a month for the drug levels in your blood to return back to the old level as Prozac has an incredbily long half-life of 7-14 days & in some people up to 30 days.

Cheers,
Panda.

Yes, I do this on antidepressants. With the zoloft it started at about 4 months in and was awful. I woke up one night and threw my shirt off onto the floor. When my hubby got up to go to work, he stepped on it and aske me what I spilled in the floor because the shirt was so wet with sweat! I stopped the zoloft and have now been on 10mg of lex for a year. I increased to 20mg for two months and the sweating is increasing. I am now in the process of cutting down to 15mg. My doc said that vitamin E may help the night sweating but I have not tried it yet.

Hi,

The increased sweating isn't all that uncommon. I experienced it the first few weeks that I was on Lexapro, it went away after a about 2 weeks. I'm not entirely sure what causes it, but it seems to go away after your body adjusts to the level of medication you're on.

I have had the same thing from many meds.

The worst "combo" was Effexor 225 + Seroquel 50 ... I would be literally drenched when I woke up. It also made me lose alot of weight which I attributed to that sweating like crazy at night thing.

Now I'm on Effexor 300 + Celexa 15 and it still happens.
