I take an SSRI, which gives me a little dry mouth, by the Adderall XR I take for ADHD really seems to be the culprit. Since it is helping so much, I wouldn't get off of it for this reason, but it is a major nusance. I've tried biotine toothpaste, mouth jell & gum. And some sort of saliva replacement. None of them worked well at all. My mouth is constantly bone dry which: (1) makes my mouth taste horrible; (2) I've heard it is very bad on your gums & teeth; (3) and causes me to drink so much water I have to go pee every 30 mins.
If you've found any effective solutions, please let me know about them!!

I have a problem with dry mouth also.Some is likely from anxiety itself and the other part is obviously and most likely as a result of side effects from meds. I just purchased a product that is specifically for dry mouth due to various conditions and or medications. The product is called Salivart. It does seem to help me some and you'll most likely have to have your phamacist order it and mine got it in in one day....the OTC stuff is probably not real effective ... also it is a spray not a gel.. check it out ! Hope this helps!

Salivart has been dismissed in a clinical review paper on dry mouth I read. My pharmacist handed it to me off the shelf for $15, and it sprays synthetic saliva in your mouth. Lasts for as long as saliva lasts, which means maybe a couple of minutes before your symptoms return.
I use Biotene toothpaste, mouthwash and Evoxac when I really need it. Evoxac should not be used if you have problems with your heart, have meds that affect your cardiac rythms, or are on too many med combos to rule out its risks of stopping your heart.
I use to use Evoxac a lot last year when I was on Adderall. Desoxyn had less of a dry mouth effect on me, and if I took it with Evoxac I would end up spitting out saliva as I talked (a sign I probably didn't have dry mouth before taking my Evoxac pill, and it was all in my head).
Another thing, back when I was obsessed with making sure Evoxac maintained my salivary flow for my teeth's health, I eventually realized I would be more likely to dose it when I was tired, because I would often confuse dry mouth with a sense of fatigue in my tongue muscles...
Anyway, see if you can avoid resorting to Evoxac, it may not be severe enough for it anyway. Biotene toothpaste + mouthwash is a very good combo, drinking liquids helps, and you of course should use a tongue scraper or a toothbrush (rinsing the brush repeatedly) to remove the yellow grime from your tongue during the day. The Biotene mouthwash is a pleasant one to use, and uses a natural pepperiment extract that is refreshingly different from the fake stuff you'll find in others. So you can use it several times daily.
The odor-causing bacteria lies at the far end of your tongue, according to a study review in the Harvard Medical Letter.
It's annoying to have to tell doctors everytime all the drugs you're taking, and the fewer meds you take the more they can feel they can help you in the management of your priotity issues.
