Stellazine- any experiences???

Posted by ace on April 20, 2004, at 2:04:40

Im thinking of using it for my OCD. It is apperantly not only a great AP but has prominent anxiolytic properties....

At a low dose EPS is non-existant usually....

Anyone used it? comments??

Stelazine (trifluoperazine) can cause anxiety and insomnia, and is sometimes activating. Before the advent of the atypical neuroleptics, it had been used for depression from time to time. Along the same lines is a drug called molindone (Moban).

I'm not sure how effective it is for OCD...but I use it as a back up med if my depression or anxiety or general apathy get out of control.

My experience is positive with one caveat: I need to take Reminyl (an alzheimer's med) with it if I take it for more than a week. Stelazine must clobber my acetylcholine receptors because the boost of acetylcholine from reminyl takes away the one side-effect, a feeling my brain has been stuffed with cotton.

I've taken several anti-psychotics for depression and stelazine is the simplest and one of the best.
