Can you split wellbutrin XL 300mg pills?
I read about splitting the SR version. Apparently, it's okay to do as long as you wrap the other half in tinfoil so it doesn't oxidize badly and to cut one pill at a time. Air renders any exposed area of what was the inside of the pill useless I think.

I don't know, but why not ask for 150s? That's what I take 2x/day. I'm not educated on any difference in formula between the two versions, so maybe I'm missing something.

isn't the XL supposed to last twice as long as the SR?
I mean you take one SR 150 in the morning, and one 150 8 hours later. So the SR150 takes 8 hours to fully release.
Wouldnt that be the same with the XR? You take it once in the morning and it takes 16(?) hours to release? Or is it saying it is keeping a constant level of 150 (or 300 ) in your blood?
I'm confused

My pdoc told me that it's okay to split the SR pills, as a waxy medium is what is used to provided the sustained release effect, but that the XL pills utilize a different mechanism involving a mesh. In that situation, the extended release mechanism is destroyed if you cut the pill in two, so it is not recommended.Todd
