EFFEXOR XR Poll for once a day users

Posted by psychosage on May 11, 2004, at 1:33:41

Do you prefer to take your Effexor XR in the morning or at night and why assuming you only dose once a day?

good poll: I would prefer it at night however I am so used to taking it in the morning that it seems hard for me to go the whole day without it, even though it could be done I always end up taking it in the morning.

Morning- partly because if I forget then I'll always remember within a couple hours, whereas if I forget before bed then I'll only remember in the morning.

I take all my drugs at midnight.

I switched from morning to night because I could not handle the nausea after swallowing my daily Effexor XR.

Cheers,
Panda.

First thing in the morning...but the nausea is a nusience.

Night time dosing would make me feel like I was missing out on 6-7 hours of the 'effect"..

But because it is extended release..this is probabley silly on my part to think this.

Hi -

I take mine at bedtime. I don't have a problem with nausea, however, for me there is small sedative effect and taking it at night allows me to bypass this effect. I also take it with a Zyprexa booster, which can also be sedating, another reason for me to take it at night.

Taking it at night has improved the response for me as I seem to get the benefit without the sleepiness.

I'm currently taking the 150 mg but will most likely move to the 225 mg when it's time to refill my current script.

Good Luck!

Morning, because I get a stimulating effect from it. (300mg)

I was wondering if people get a stimulating or a sedating effect or both from it.

I have moved up to 75mg, and i am taking it at night for now.

I take it in the morning around 10 am -- I like to take it with food, and I'm always hungry around then and since I'm not always good about eating a nighttime meal, this works better for me.
I only take 75, and can't really see a stimulating or sedating effect. maybe sedating more than stimulating -- around 3 pm i feel like taking a nap.

I take mine in the morning around 10am. I also take it with food because otherwise I don't feel much like eating. I find I get a bit of a stimulating effect and that I fade out in the early evening...but I can be sure to wake up between 3 and 4am...every night...even with a sedative before bed.

Effexor Immediate Release (regular version - non xr) at night when I took that. XR in the morning when I switched to that type.

Effexor

I take 75mg twice a day and it seems to make no difference what time I take it as long as I take it. Tried tapering off a couple of weeks ago to one a day and not a good idea. Three days and I was getting back to the old bad feelings that I had a year ago. I will take this med forever if that is what it takes not to have that feeling again! Didn't feel depressed, just sick. Like every nerve in my body was hooked to my stomach. Didn't hurt, just, well I don't know how to describe it. I do know that I never want to feel that way again. For those of you who have similar feelings you have my utmost sympathy.
