Hello there,
I have been taking effexor xr 150 MG for the last year beacuase at some point doctors misdiagnosed me and didnt use their brain to genuinely help me.
I was put on effexor XR a year a go and my health has improved since the the right diagnosis and initiation of the Thyroid treatment.
I have decided to wean off effexor xr 150 MG.
I lowered my dosage to 75 MG ( 2* 37.5-day/night) beginning last Thursday. Started experiencing the brain tensions in the back and electric like feelings , I guess it is brain shivers.
Two question, planning to stay for 2 months on 75 MG and then 2 months on 37.5 then completely off.How long I would expect this brain shiver to continue these days?
What could I take to alleviate the tension and those feelings in the back of my neck ? Medications, drinks, certain massages.( I tried Benadryl and it helps in this feeling.
Best to you all who undergo this horrible withdrawal symptom.

Please elaborate more on the "brain tensions" and "shivers". I'm currently going off zoloft, and might be able to help you a bit if I know exactly what you're talking about.

Feeling like your brain tissues are very tight.
Discomfort, dizzines but still keeping my sanity.
Sorry that I can't elaborate anymore, I can't think much since I am having them now.Maybe the drop from 150 MG to 75 MG of Effexor was the reason. I migh need to drop 37.5 MG each month.

i am going to go off soon, as well, I am tired of this drug, maybe i need a 12 step program, good luck

>Hmmm. I've been getting a similar feeling that I call "head fuzziness" for a long time (even before starting zoloft". I describe it as like having a head full of cotten, a half filled balloon pushing against the interior surface of your skull, or sometimes wearing a tight hat when you're not. I also tend to get spots in my vision and a feeling of being under mental strain lately.
Make sure you're getting adaquate sleep and eating enough. That seems to help me a great deal.

My highest dosage of Effexor XR was 367.5mg/daily. I had brain zaps while on the med. That was the reason I weaned off of it. For me, I only decreased by 37.5mg each week until I was completely off of it. It took about 3 weeks - one month after being off the Effexor XR for the brain zaps to end. I didn't find weaning all that difficult since I already had the brain zaps while taking the Effexor XR.
I have read on this board that others have taken Prozac to help with withdrawal symptoms. I didn't take anything to help me.
