picking medication?

Posted by MichaelJr on June 9, 2004, at 8:01:25

I can't stop picking at my skin, and it's starting to turn into a severe problem. I'm afraid I'm going to do some long term damage unless I can find a way to stop.

I'm going to bring it up with my pdoc, don't know why I never have before, but is there any medication I can expect that will help with this sort of thing? I heard there was. Thanks, Mike

I think this symptom falls into an obsessive compulsive disorder. Yes, you will scar yourself up if you don't stop. Plus, your skin is an organ too. It has a normal flora of bacteria on it. Picking would interrupt this state and may leave you open to bringing in unwanted bacteria into your body to make you sick.

I would defiantly consult a physican about this problem before you do any further damage to yourself.
