Neurontin as Sleep Aid

Posted by stalwart on June 24, 2004, at 3:37:51

My pdoc says Neurontin-300mg at bedtime is being "used" by many. Has anyone benefited from Neurontin-300mg- at bedtime?

Yes. Once upon a time it was 300 mgs for me, but I needed to go up to higher doses. I feel no effect below 1200 mgs and sometimes I have to go higher.

I notice that it takes about an hour at least to really kick in, so I would keep that in mind if I were you.

Also, in my case, increasing the amount of the drug seems to be par for the course....but then I can start decreasing it again.....maybe it's just me being weird!

So the long and short of it is that I have klonopin around for when I think it is time for a neurontin holiday :-)

Good luck,

Diane

I've been taking Neurontin for sleep for about 3 1/2 years. I started on 800mg and have gone up to 1200. This works pretty well for me. It does take a little while to kick in, so I try to make sure I take it about an hour before bedtime.
