Has anyone had rebound insomnia when coming off of Seroquel? My Pdoc put me on 75mg at night for anxiety. I never had problems sleeping prior to taking this med and I am concerned that I may never be able to sleep again without this med. For anyone who has come off this med, were you able to sleep once again without it? If chemist reads this, will my brain adjust eventually so that I may be able to sleep without it as I did before? I am so concerned.

Thanks Panda. I have a large supply of Seroquel left. I plan to decrease by 10% every two weeks or as tolerated. Hopes this works as I no longer want to be dependent on this med for sleep.

Hi Laura,
I actually misread your original post. I thought you had rebound insomnia, not that you were just wondering if you would get it.
Seroquel taken at low doseages causes drowsiness because it is an antihistamine. Rebound insomnia caused by antihistamine withdrawl does happen, but it is something that only lasts for a few days & is extremely mild in comparison to Benzo withdrawl. You could decrease much faster if you want, 10% less every few days would be more than sufficient, although there is nothing wrong with taking longer if it makes you feel more comfortable. :)
Cheers,
Panda.

Thanks. I think I will reduce more than just 10%. As you mentioned I can always stay at a certain point if necessary. I appreciate all of your input.
