I tried Gabitril to treat bipolar depression. It was of no help, and actually produced anxiety and some dysphoria.

At best, I think this drug can provide some relief from mild to moderate anxiety and insomnia. However, it is not a very consistent drug in that it doesn't seem to help a clear majority of people.

My former pdoc gave me some samples of the stuff--she had been to some conference where it was hyped like the greatest since sliced bread--but all it did was keep me awake all night. I've had much better results with Zyprexa and even Klonopin.

I take Gabatril. At first it created insomnia. My pdoc had a hard time understanding why. But after reading the above posts, I see Im not the only one. I also felt a little bit silly, kind of loosened up a little bit. That onty lasted several days though.
One thing I can note about Gabatril is; The higher my dose in the evening I feel groggy in the morning.
Best Wishes,
Cindy
