Abilify for rumination/decision-making problems?

Posted by monica123 on October 28, 2004, at 11:35:16

My depression is relatively well-controlled with Effexor, but I still have a lot of problems with stupid simple decisions like what I'm in the mood to eat or whether to do this task or that task first. My psychiatrist suggested Abilify; does anyone have experience with that for this kind of thing?

Thanks.

I have the same kind of trouble with seemingly stupid simple decisions...what is abilify? I've never heard of it.

I tried abilify for a few months and it didn't do anything... I'm on Geodon now and it definitely help with ruminating thoughts and lifted the depression (along with effexor). I had been on Zyprexa but gained 20 pounds (uugh), but Geodon is weight-neutral.

I too am on Geodon (40 mg), to help with anxiety and rumination--it seems to help although the effects seem to wear off a bit after a month. Side effect=spaciness. I never tried Abilify, I forget why I chose Geodon over Abilify.
