Effexor and Panic Attacks

Posted by chess on October 30, 2004, at 11:57:08

Anybody know if Effexor is effective for blocking panic attacks?
I've read it's indicated for depression and general anxiety, but I haven't read it being prescribed for panic disorder.
Anybody having success with Effexor for their panic disorder?

Effexor is prescribed for General Anxiety Disorder. I have had a bad experience with it and I think alot of other folks have too. Read the boards. There are very few fans of Effexor.

Some doctors give benzodiazapines like xanax, valium, or whatever. I have panic attacks and I drink something warm. By the time I take something, the attack is over before the medicine kicks in. Anyway, best of luck with that. Effexor is for shit.

I was having panic attacks and since I have been on effexorXR I have only had one, and that was only a week into my prescription. It has worked great for my panic attacks, depression, and anxiety. It just kills you sex drive is the only crappy part about it.
Good luck!!!! Also you should do some research on Lucinda Bassets attacking anxiety and depression program...It was expensive but it really teaches you how to stop having panic attacks and anxiety.
