Hi,
I just began aricept (donepezil) for my strange bipolar disorder, which involves lots of hypomanic responses to drugs, and severe depression otherwise.. but I cant sleep!!! If only I could sleep, I would think this drug could be it.. I'm currently at 5 mg...
Thanx for the read

I got all sorts of hypomanic responses to lots of drugs too. Are you on any other meds?

In what ways is aricept helping? I have been contemplating this one too for concentration and brain fog. Is it helping any for hypomanic restlessness or depression?

Hi,I've been turned hypomanic on lamotrigine, risperdal, wellbutrin and nardil... My assumption is that dopamine release is somehow involved as these drugs all seem to influence it.. Anywayz, aricept significantly helped my depression, motivation and anxiety.. but it was 'activating'.. it didnt make me agitated per se, but more in the lines of causing strong insomnia and a loss of appetite... but id definately try it if i were u! it did improve my cognition somewhat and took me outta a deep dark depression relatively quickly..

Hey,
No problem whatsoever.. aricept is too activating for me, but it pulls me out of deep depression.. it is great for anxiety and depression but causes too much insomnia, sweating, and loss of appetite.. but u could be different!

I postulate that aricept's antidepressant effects are caused by increasing levels of epinephrine associated with increased levels of ACH.. just my theory, but if you've had success with epine/norepine-altering drugs before, this one just may do the trick for you..

Hi there,
Are you still on Aricept?
Can you tell me how it helped your BP exactly and if it addressed both depressive and manic symptoms? Also, are you on any other meds in addition to the Aricept?
I have had nothing but trouble with meds thus far and my doc and I are at a loss. He suggested Aricept as a last ditch effort and also thinks it could help my OCD and hypervigilent brain.
Any info on your experiences is MUCH appreciated.
Thank you,
Jen
