After learning today that chickens are not force fed until they pop (that would be turkeys and ducks and the popping may well be inadvertant) I hunted down my flatmates jar of marmite. The jar says it contains derivatives of 'barley, wheat, and soy' so it is vegetarian friendly and is a high source of vitamin B, as you say :-)

The ingredients for marmite make it sound very similar to vegemite (or at least what I think is in vegemite). I wonder why only marmite is listed as prohibited on the MAOI diet. I've never even heard of pavlova.

Pavlova is a yummy dessert made of meringue, fruit and whipped cream-definitely better than marmite! (And totally Mao-safe) Cecilia
