Anyone ever better after stopping medication?

Posted by krybrahaha78 on December 8, 2004, at 15:36:00

i have taken Luvox for my OCD and Anxiety issues for about 2 years. Recently i decided to get off it and i have been off it about 2 months now and i now feel the same as i did when i was on it. My OCD is almost nonexistant and my anxiety is minimal. Has anyone been done this?

I was afraid to stop taking meds. I was on prozac, ativan & ambien. I had been taking them for about 3 years - after taking serzone & trazadone for about 3 years. I was thinking about coming off the pills as I had been feeling better - but the thought that the dreaded anxiety might come back scared me to death. So, it took me about 6 mos - 1 year to finally wean myself all pills (and I got pregnant, which kind of hurried the process up at the end). I have been off all meds for 2 months now and I can honestly say I have never felt better. Now, I don't know if you would call that a cure - or pregnancy hormones are making me feel better, or whatever in my life that had caused the anxiety had been resolved in therapy - but I feel better. I guess only time will tell if this will last, but I feel strong. Good luck to you...

I know this isn't the kind of drug you mean but for several years I've been taking Zopiclone (Imovane) for a good night's sleep (sic). Often in the day I've felt so tired and agitated, dragging myself around and fighting off sleep. I gave them up last week, and even when I take hours to get to sleep I feel more alert and alive when I'm awake
