It helps me sleep, it lessens my anxiety, BUT: I have the attention span of a gnat. My short term memory is down to retaining information for about 2 seconds before it's irretreivably lost. My work place is not very understanding when I need to put my head on my desk for a post-lunch snooze. My speed reading ability has a parking boot on it. No matter how small I split the 50mg tablets, I'm too s-l-o-w to function.
So, back to Ambien to sleep, and a smidgen (.25mg) of Xanax when my anxiety squeezes too hard.

yeah, now that I read what you have experienced I think my trazadone might be the culprit as well since I'm having the same sort of experience. I feel like when I take it at night and then wake up the next day and take my effexor, the drowsiness from the antidepressant is painfully obvious.

I'll put it this way - when I did not take trazodone one night, and took ambien instead, the next morning I was as bright as a new penny. It made a world of difference and the anxiety was almost worth it. Effexor stopped working for me after a year and I'm now on Cymbalta. It does not have the same anti-anxiety effect but I hope in the long run that therapy gets to the bottom of it.

pc,
i take ambien and cymbalta too (albeit you sound like the ambien is on and off) but lately i've been having an incredible amount of dreaming. Have you noticed that with either drug? It's wearing me out!anastasia

I miss being able to remember my dreams - it is intermittent on these meds. Going to sleep is my most favourite part of the day. You're getting wacky dreams?

some nightmares some normal. But geez, the sheer volume of them boggles the mind...they are one right after the other. I didn't have them before i missed two days of cymbalta and ambien due to the stomach flu so maybe it is just a rebound effect of starting up again with the meds. Just thought i'd ask tho. Thanks!

Trazodone is not my friend, either. I've only taken it ONCE -- like one tablet. Ended up sitting in the living room most of the night, with my husband up with me because I needed the comfort of his company so very much. Not fun...
Have you ever tried beta blockers for your anxiety? I tried a very low dose of propranalol, and it was a miracle drug for me. Bye bye anxiety, no brain fog, although I did have a certain amount of amotivation. It might be worth talking to your doctor about?
Hope that helps...

I used to take beta blockers for migraine prevention, but they made me very blue, and this was before I was depressed. I can't imagine what they'd do to me in my present state... thanks for thinking of me!
I see my p-doc on Monday so I'll see what other rabbits whe has to pull out of her hat.

Hi,
What side effects did you get with trazodone?

We are bumping the Cymbalta up to 90mg/day. Back to Ambien for sleep and I am doing OK on .25mg of xanax, and I don't feel the need to take it every day.
It sure is nice to be able to think clearly again, even anxiously.
This is the end of the thread.
