Hello, I am new to this website and I have now on my 2nd P.Doc. A few years ago I was on Prozac and then Celexa. I just stopped taking Cymbalta which made me very sick, to many side effects that I couldnt handle. Today I took my first Wellbutrin. What should I expect from this medication? My p doc didnt tell me much about this medication just basically decided to put me on it and I was in and out of her office in less than 5 minutes. I suffer from Anxiety, ADD symtoms, and depression. Anyone on this med, will it work well with Adderall or Ritalin? My p. doc said next time i come in we are going to talk about add meds. I also take restoral to fall asleep because my anxiety keeps me up and I also want to stop smoking Marajuana which i have been smoking everyday for a few years becuase it helped me deal with my depression and add symptoms...it was the only thing that helped. I just gave up after the prozac and celexa trial, marajuana also let me sleep well.
I have now stoped smoking weed because i am hoping the welbutrin will help me with my depression instead of medicating myself with a joint every night.
P.S. I just want to say I am glad I have found a real place to talk about my crazyness.

Hi:
I have NO idea/clue whether the marajuana and WB goes well or not. However, the WB has some 'stimulant' efficacy along with anti-depressant property. One thing you need to be cautious about this med., WB is to make sure, ... you have NO 'seizure tendency.' If you have 'Epilepsy' predisposition in your family, ... even way back to the Grandparents', then you must stop the WB immediately and to call the pdoc. for an alternative med.
Besides this, you sound like asking about its side-effects, ... in my case, in the beginning of WB tx., I had a dry-mouth, some 'muscularskeletal' problems around the jaw and limbs. However, those S.E.s went away with time. Probably, it took from three to four months to dissipate. Then, if you get those problems, you need to adjust your life-style a bit, like drinking a lot of liquid to ease out the dryness in the mouth or even chewing a gum to produce more saliva in your mouth. Also, you need to adjust its dosage according your situation. A starting dosage is around 100-150 mg. a day, in my experience, although most of pdocs. rx'ed around 300 mg. Then, you have to go 'slow' to reach its dosage, if you are on the higher dosage, the 300 mg. WB. It took about three to four months for me to accomplish the rx'ed dosage, the 300 mg. which is 'recommended' dosage.
Other than that, I had NO prominent S.E.s from taking the WB sr. It's one of 'best' meds. which giving me 'concentration,' 'motivation' along with some 'good' anti-dep. efficacy.Good Luck on the WB tx.
H.G.

Hi there! I've been on Wellbutrin for about two months, and it definitely has increased my energy and made me stop feeling like a zombie. However, I believe it has also increased my anxiety, which makes sense--if you're already anxious, and then you're "sped up," you'll probably feel more anxious. My P.doc has said from the start that I'll probably need to take something for the anxiety along with the Wellbutrin (I already take ambien to sleep) and I've been in denial, but I'm going in Tuesday to see what my options are...
Oh, in terms of side effects--besides the anxiety, I had some headaches and nausea, which finally stopped after about six weeks, so if that's the only problem, tough it out!
Good luck!

I'm pretty much a newbie too. I'll be starting Wellbutrin soon and we can compare notes. Hopefully they'll all be good. Right now i'm taking 50mg/day Zoloft and .5mg Klonopin at night. My new doc thinks low dopamine is my problem so Wellbutrin it is. I've never taken a pro-dopamine med before so i'm kinda excited about the whole prospect. Well as excited as someone who's pretty much incapable of feeling anything right now can be. Anhedonia i believe it's called. I really want my hedonia back. If this med works i'll seriously consider legally changing my name to Will Butrin :-)
This is the end of the thread.
