FLUOXETINE Nausia

Posted by Shame on February 22, 2005, at 15:30:24

I'm currently on a 'cocktail' or a couple of different drugs. My Prozac really makes my stomach upset... I have tried to switch to other meds, but I always end up being a serious wreck if I go off the Prozac... Anyone have any voodoo they use to fight nausea with their meds?

Hey! When other meds are used, how have you done the introduction of the new meds? What works for me, since I am the king of weird side-effects, is taking the replacement drug right along with the old drug, and then tapering. It works with most antidepressants unless you need an MAOI. As for nausea...Protonix is the only thing I've ever used for med-induced nausea, but it was pretty severe. This stuff has phenobarbital in it, so use sparingly.

I had a lot of nausea when I added Desipramine to my coctail (although I think it might have been the lexapro's fault). Anyway, I found sucking on a ginger candy to be helpful. Ginger can soothe stomach upset. Kind of like when you have ginger ale when you are sick...

Also, my nausea eventually subsided (after a few weeks). We also tried moving the time i took my meds around. That might have helped, but I'm not sure...

Best,
EE
