Posted by Tepiaca on March 31, 2005, at 19:42:36

Hello , I am considering to try Parnate instead of Nardil if my attempt of increasing Nardil to 90mg do not give me enough relief for my Social Phobia.

Has any psychobable partner out there have found Parnate to be beter than Nardil in terms of Social Phobia????

I am very interested in hear experiences

Thanks !!

What was the previous dose of Nardil?
If you don't have any other anxiety (GAD), Parnate could be an option. In my case it works for SP (not a major problem for me) but worsens GAD, thus I want to try Nardil. Take the message as a note, I could be an exception. I cannot tolerate almost every antidepressant (increased anxiety and agitation) and I need to use benzo.

SP
(1) The patient strongly, repeatedly fears at least one social or performance situation that involves facing strangers or being watched by others.
(2) The patient specifically fears showing anxiety symptoms or behaving in some other way that will be embarrassing or humiliating.
(3) The phobic stimulus almost always causes anxiety, which may be a cued or situationally predisposed panic attack.
(4) The patient realizes that this fear is unreasonable or out of proportion.
(5) The patient either avoids the situation or endures it with severe distress or anxiety.
Either there is marked distress about having the phobia or it markedly interferes with the patient's usual routines or social, job or personal functioning.
(6) Patients under the age of 18 must have the symptoms for 6 months or longer.
(7) The symptoms are not better explained by a different mental disorder, including Anxiety Disorders, Dysmorphic Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Schizoid Personality Disorder.
