Is 2 mg./Klonopin per day a large dose? My pdoc is treating it as such...and then some. Took a lot of convincing to get him to give me 1 mg./day (.5/2x a day) to allay severe anxiety and panic attacks. I'm taking up counseling sessions again to deal more directly with this as well. Eventually I want to taper, but i cannot function on only 1 mg./day. Should I seek a second opinion with my MD for now? Thanks!

In reply to Klonopin @ 2 mg.-- a lot??, posted by Laree on April 20, 2005, at 13:56:09
I don't know if that's a lot for you but it would be a WHOLE lot for me.
My dr. wants me to take .5 twice a day.. I can't take that and operate (not like "operate as a surgeon but more like function). LOL
So I bite it in half in the morning- so I'm taking between .12-.25 a day.
I don't think it's helping me though. When I go up on it, I feel major depression so I am trying to just wean myself off slowly.
Do you get sedated with 2 mg's??

My doctor first prescribed .5 mgs a day for me. I told him it didnt do anything, so he then increased it to 1 mg twice daily=2mgs. However, i only take .5 in the morning and 1 mg at night. I dont think that is a high dose. Some people take up to four mgs a day or more. Its whatever helps you that counts.

All these meds are so individualized. It makes me think of how pdocs seem to think that "one size fits all". Fondly, Phillipa
