So my pdoc started me on luvox yesterday. She started me on a low dose. I've read here that it's the most sedating SSRI. So how come I slept less last night? She started me on 25mg. I almost laughed as in the past when I was med sensitive I started at 50mg with no side effects and titrated upward daily until I was taking 250mg. With this was 4-5mg of ativan and chloral hydrate. So am I med tolerant or what? Thanks, Phillipa

Well if last time you ended up taking 250 mg maybe you should start titrating now. Usually the rule of thumb with ADs is titrate until you feel a side effect. Wait. Then titrate some more until the side effects returns. Wait. Titrate .... until you reach the therapeutic dosage. So 25 mg isn't really a good test of how you will respond to the med if last time you were on 10 times that amount.

i have had very good experiences with Luvox. Its never really been sedating in my case, it was always the opposite. I have always had to take a benzo along with it. I currently take Klonopin. Luvox is an awesome drug, but for some reason its not very popular. I think its superior over all the other SSRI's (just my opinion.)
