Efexor weight issues,please?

Posted by darkhorse on September 16, 2005, at 3:51:45

Hello Efexor experts :

I want to know how does Efexor affect your weight.
I'm taking 75mg ER/XR right now for the last 2 weeks and so far so good.
I wanna raise it to 150mg ER/XR,but I'm afraid of weight gain.I can not stand this side effect at all.
I've been through most AD's before including SSRis and experienced weight gain, even with Prozac (delayed) weight gain without changing my diet.
I want to continue with effex but horrified by any extra kilos/pounds.

Any input would be much appreciated.
Dark Horse.

im guessing that the added noradrenergic effect at higher doses may actually help fight weight gain?

Hey! i know that each person reacts differently to meds. but i have been on the SSRI's and struggled NOT to gain weight BUT, effexor takes my appetite away and did so at 75,150, and now 225mg. i do eat but don't overeat. it also gives some people a boost of energy which helps. i know that the most important factor is that U feel better but if ur like me, weight gain makes ur self esteem go down and u tend to feel worse. it's worth a try. good luck!

effexor gave me a boost of energy, and was almost like a diet pill because it concealed my hunger pains.

however, as wildcard said, every med affects everyone differently. you wont know until you try yourself.

good luck, effexor has been miracle drug to many.

Thanks to all of you.
Actually I raised to 150 4 days ago and felt the best since the early days of Imipramine and Prazac. But is even better than imipramine because of lack of dry mouth,constipation..etc,and better than Prozac cos at 150 it gives a much better concentration and some drive and motivation.

If I don't get weight gain from it, it will be my friend for life.

I can almost notice that I do not feel the need to take a benzo for anxiety....

I hope it is the miracle drug for me.

I'm sure at 150mg the Noradregenic effect kiks in, do you think so??
