Lamictal: Got anyone waking up very early????????

Posted by qbsbrown on October 12, 2005, at 8:47:29

I'm at a loss when to take this med. I feel the antidepressant effects which are good. Only problem is popping up out of bed at 5 am. That's if i'm taking it in the morning.

Anyone else experience this? Any advice?

Thanks

I am sleeping much less with this medication and feel that I have more energy. I do think that my depression was making me sleep more, so now I don't know if I'm getting enough sleep or not. i suppose if I start becoming exhausted during the day I'll know.

It's improved since the 'tired but wired" feeling I had at first. I've been at 100mg for 2 weeks now. I'm not going to be titrating up to 200mg unless I have to.

I kind of agree. It's throwing my depression for a loop, wanting to sleep more than anything (and the depression will fight hard to stay alive). waking up early w/ energy, doesn't know what to do. I'll think of it as a good side effect, and the antidepressant effects taking place. Just worried about crashing at 5pm.

I have paradoxical reactions. On the one hand, I do wake up earlier than pre-Lamictal. On the other hand, I then take my morning dose of Lamictal and it makes me calm enough to go back to sleep.

But I also take Provigil and Lexapro when I first wake up, so I'm not sure which is doing what.

Also the insomnia is pretty brutal. Sucks, because it's the only drug that pulls me out of serious depression. Is it worth it to go on another sleeping pill (seroquel)? I dunno.

No matter how early in the morn i take it, the insomnia is still there.

well, it is 4:23 am and I have been up since 2 am. This is day three on lamictal 25 mg. I have withdrawn from my nightly seroquel 50mg because of side effects (twitching and seizue). Last two nights before I took Klonopin 0.5 mg and I got a full night's sleep. However pdoc's instructions were to take the Klonopin if I felt too wound up to sleep, not to help me stay asleep.

My doc told me that once I was on the correct dose, my sleep problems would go away? My husband thinks I have sleep apnea so if the symptoms persist I think I am going to ask for a sleep study.

my muddled $0.02

I've been waking at 5 am also. Like Bill though I can go back to sleep after taking the morning dose.

I upped the dose 2 weeks ago and last week there was a noticeable antidepressant effect and I got very little sleep. This week I am sleeping heaps more and I've slumped into depression again.
