NEWBIES, read this board IN CONTEXT

Posted by UgottaHaveHope on October 19, 2005, at 1:05:48

Sometimes, when I show a friend this board, he or she will say to me that no medicine in the world must work, based on the posts.

However, that is the furthest thing for the truth. This board, it is for exhanging ideas on the meds, and quite frankly, many of the people who post are in the midst of searching for the right combination.

Yes, it is true you rarely do read about a success story on here, but that's only because when one feels good, the last place you will find them is on this web site. I've gone 6-8 months without looking, but the first minute I struggle I am back.

So again, Newbies welcome to this site, but take what you read in context. People do get better and so can you. Share your story. Help is here.

I have been coming here for 3 years and it is helpful. I am really wanting to develop friends here, but it is getting harder with all the traffic it is getting. Google is really diverting alot of traffic to this site now and it is crowded. Now my rant is done, let me say that I would like to develop relationships with alot of you and talk about medicines. I am on Effexor 225xr, not sure if I should be or if it is helping but it has is side effects and they get old.

I do believe there can be a slanted view here. I understand that. I have said, I know individuals in my "real world" who are on just about every medication discussed here and are having success. That being said, there are a number of cases of treament resistant disorders.

In terms of success stories, it's difficult, at times, to tell a success story. I think it's unfortunate folks don't stick around to tell those. But the sad truth is, I find they aren't necessarily well received and it's frustrating.

There are successes and as you ID proclaims - You gotta try to keep having hope.

That's why I keep coming here. Looking for a med combo that will work for me. So read all the Threads that apply to your condition. But remember that a lot of us are treatment resistant. Fondly, Phillipa

This board is populated by folks who are experiencing difficulties with troubling side effects, folks transitioning from one med to another, and folks with meds that aren't working well.

In the big picture, I don't know what the percentage is, but a huge piece of the pie is out in the world doing just fine. The piece of the pie represented here is small in comparison to folks who are doing well with their med treatments. So yes, any reader of this board should keep that in context.

I was absent from this board for 5 years, because I was out in the world doing well on my meds. When things go wrong with my meds, I come back, where I can get new ideas and share my experiences with others.
