After a Week

Posted by Bets43 on October 31, 2005, at 8:17:54

Just wanted to report that so far effexor has been a positive experience for me. Constipation is a problem, some sexual...not too bad...so far. I have a little acid reflux after taking my pill but I find if I sit up it is not so bad. The biggest thing for me was the immediate release from reaccurent, anxious thoughts. This is what was my biggest problem...its like a recording that plays over and over which you cannot stop. Some of it came back but I am much more able to be positive now which makes all the difference to me. Phew, I feel much more like myself :}

I too just finished my first week. They doubled me from 37.5 mgs today. Doc said this should help with the incredible anxiety I start feeling as the afternoon comes on.

The screaming at inanimate objects in apoplectic anger has stopped, as has collapsing for hours at a time into a sobbing heap on the floor. I have aboslutely no desire to get up and do anything right now -- but don't know if that's from coming off acute stress or the Affexor.

Good luck to you!

Maybe I gave up on effexor too quickly. I took 37.5mg for a week. At the time I was starting menopause and anxiety was sky high and the effexor made me feel like a space cadet. So the pdoc discontinued it. Fondly, Phillipa

Actually, I went through menopause overnight about 2 years ago -- am on HRT now. When I went "down", I forgot to renew my HRT Rx, and then started the Affexor. Started having terrible nightsweats. Remembered to renew the Rx, and in two days, no more night sweats. You may want to check into that, and all other ladies who find they are having a severe problem with night sweats. It may help some of you, though I fear, not all. Note: The doctor upped me from 37.5mg to 75mg today, so we'll see how I do tonight after all this braggadocio.
