As far as Chairmans problem goes,i cant for the life of me understand why a doc will not prescribe lunesta, its heavly marketed, and they are supposed to WANT to prescribe it.Pretty wild and just shows how unpredictable docs can be that here chairman can get his maoi, get for me a impossable pain killer, yet NOT get lunesta something i have sitting in the pharmacy but cant touch cause it only cost uggh 40 dollers for like 2 pills.Hopefully it will still be there when i get my insurance.Chairman no magic suggestions here other than keep shooting for lunesta its still gonna be ur best option over all the other crap.In fact if one could have access to ambien/lunesta/benzo/and maybe throw in l-theanie otc i think the combo rotation or combination of these meds are great.Have had a friend with severe insomnia,no mood disorders use this regime for a long long time with success.
As for the gentlman looking to use his MAOI without insomnia, umm i can be wrong ,but my personal opinion is insomnia is the one thing you will have to accept/address with MAOIS.I dont see a way of avoiding is on a consistant basis.
As for as sls,not recomdneding a no washout period,BUT have u tried it,i personaly have been in one tons and TONS of times as i never seem to have the BA-S to keep on nardil and stay off parnate, chairman knows this as hes tried to bang it in my head to leave parnate for nardil.
I have both, but man i am under parnates spell,it scares me when i go off a day.Yet at the same time its effefvness is terrable for me.Im hoping this patch ,if it was approved or not,i read both yess/no,will get me away from both of these older maois.

Thanks for your concern, man.
I actually got the doctor who Rx's my buprenorphine (my internist who also works with addicts at the methadone clinic) to write me Lunesta (Oh my god! Compassion!) 3mg #30 qhs with 1 refill. I feel SOOOO much better today! Hopefully on the 28th when I consult with one of the senior psychopharmacologists at UMDNJ he will take over prescribing that.
My Lunesta-prescribing doctor told me take it for one week and then see if I don't need it. I told him my insomnia is secondary to taking an MAOI and not primary, so that there will never be a re-establishment of normal sleep rhythms as there usually is in normals who take such sleep aids.
He told me that he just would ideally like to see me not taking it forever. I fear he simply doesn't understand the permanence and gravity of MAOI-induced insomnia, and may stop Rx'ing it in the future. Then again, I have a hard time imagining him ignoring repeated pleas of "I can't sleep!" forever and still continuing to be my internist, either. If anyone in the NYC metro area needs an Rx for buprenorphine, babblemail me and I can tell you where to go. It is $65 per Rx (not including the medication, which is insanely expensive, of course), the cheapest I've ever heard of.

>Id recomend now getting ambien as well.Im not gonna get into the ways of doing so,people do stupid things like i know a friend who had it and well they basicaly switched and shared to have a even mix, silly guys not nice to do without doctors knowing.
Anyhoo l theanine is also a over the counter herb that when a bit is placed and held under the tongue works well with sleep aids. But be careful, use partial cap,l theanine has both sedative and stimulant properties and different dose curve controls both,so less is better just a tiny bit will be noticable.
Good luck.Just started taking nardil, uggh man its a low grade feeling,i year for that big punch that kick in the *ss punch nardil instead seems to hit a plateo of a feeling and drags itself on that all day,no higher or lower, kind of like a mood stablizer.
Im from the ny metro area, too bad,i could have used the drug bup,va is a common wealth i can not get it here at all.
