Has anyone here ever experienced a rash with Lithium, or a benzo? I now seem to have this nasty reaction with even the slightest dose change with either of the two aforementioned drugs. It's anybody's guess as to where it will show up, and is accompanied by significant itchiness. It takes weeks to subside once the dose is stabilized.

Hey! Sorry I can't be of more help with the drugs you mentioned, but I got nasty rashes on Wellbutrin (not the sereve allegic reaction type rash) but just strange bumps/blisters that occured on elbows, knees, and knuckles -- and then the itchiness began.....you just can't stop! I gave up the wellbutrin at that point.
I wonder if its related to some histamine recepter thing? I don't know much about that sort of thing through.
Kind regards
Meri

I had the same problem with Parnate. Got a really nasty case of hives that still haven’t gone away. Apparently MAO inhibitors also inhibit M-methyltrasferase, the substance that clears histamine from the H1 receptors. You might try an oral anti-histamine. Doxepin is about the most potent anti-histamine available (800 times more powerful than Benedryl!). 10mg of doxepin before bedtime seems to have really helped.

The one odd thing about these rashes is that I never had them before, but now I seem to have developed a sensitivity over time - to the same drugs.
Thanks for the advice.
