As everyone knows cause i have been yap yap yapping,i am on a sea-saw,and have been finaly getting reliaf from parnate with what i can only attribute to the combo of xanax/klonopin.
But the sleep is just not happening, this morning i finaly slept at 9 am,and anyone reading this will see im typing this at 5 am this morning with enough energy to wrestle a horse.
Im very angry inside right now,i mean give a guy a break,i am trying to do well on one end and now i have sleep to worry about,if it was daytime now id be ok and be doing stuff, now instead ill be half asleep and feeling rotten,i cant juggle the disease, the remedy ,and the side effects all alone, its just so hard.
I finihsed my Rozarem, and im now glad i had none tonight, only differance would be instead of feeling ok now id feel semi high,so i have to conclude that for me Rezarem is not gonna be used.
I see my doc tuesday,im gonna write what i think i need, which is my normal parnate,a klonopin and xanax fill........and now for sleep,
PLEASE PLEASE has anyone tried Ambien XR,if you have please share how effective you believe it is.Is it a work some nights not work others kinda thing? And i also would love to know since its NOT a narctoic how close to the old plain Ambien it is,if someone has tried both and can tell me.
Sorry for the frustation,i just hate that i feel ok now but its at 5 am,i need to feel like this in the day.
Any thing on the current sleep drugs im totaly listening please share what ya can.

Hi Willy
How do you react to normal Ambien? Like Ambien, Ambien CR induces sleep rapidly but has a somewhat longer duration of action, maintaining sleep for longer eg. 6 hours instead of 5 hours or whatever.

What makes me curious is the fact that isnt ambein regualar like a benzo and considered a narcotic........and ambien XR made to compete with lunesta and NOT a narcotic?I could be wrong here this was just my thinking.

Hi Willy
'Narcotic' is a pejorative/negative term which doesn't have any real scientific meaning. The term 'narcotic' is sometimes used legally but not in medicine.
Ambien, Ambien CR and Lunesta *all* have a certain amount of 'abuse potential', as do benzodiazepines.

Sorry to hear that you are frustrated. I've heard that magnesium is good for insomnia, and safe to take w/Parnate. also vit B6 100mg.,niacin 100 mg, and a quality high potency multi vit w/minerals. I have read they are all safe w/Parnate, even benefical-but don't take my word for it, Google them. Man, I do hope you get to feelng better soon. I don't know if you believe in God, but I do, and I will be praying for you. Best wishes.

Hi Willyee, I got Ambien in the hospital and it worked really well....at the time I was on Nardil.
I have a question for you...once again I am experiencing extreme anxiety after only two months on Parnate...thinking of stopping and going back to Nardil despite it's weakened effect from reformulation....can one just stop taking Parnate??
Thanks!

Exactly what the pharmacist told me it is regulated like a benzo. Same class of meds. I was surprised Since lunesta is for long term use and not considered addictive as a benzo is. Fondly, Phippipa

Technicaly a washout is required from maoi to maoi. Now maoi to ssri, vice versa is totaly in my opinion neccassary, were talking serious interaction here.As far as a wash out between 2 maois,me,my opinion,my own non medical opinion is close to none is needed.
To give u an example,i planned on going to nardil, and started ,and three times over i jumped ship and went back cause the Nardil wasnt seeming to be strong enough to hold me down,so you figure for a good two weeks i was on both parnate and nardil, obviously no washout,in fact there were a "few" times where they worked well togther. Now im not gonna tell u go ahead its safe to switch cause thats a serious decision u have to make, all i can do is say i never saw why the washout was needed, and i in exper dident feeel any problems what so ever, not a single one.
As far as stopping parnate cold, while u wait to see ur next move, cant help u there as i feel im proubalby addicted to this drug and if i stopped parnate by day three im suffereing some horrable withdrawals,i suffered them in the midst of the nardil switch which is why i could never take nardil alone with out going back to parnate.
It does give me pleasure knowing i took what i believe is a inferior form of nardil, from long reading i feel i would have been able to hack it had i the OLD nardil, prob would have great for me,but the new formulation seems to be a real problem.

I know of ambien and i know of it having a very similiar structure toa benzo, but not quite being a benzo, but is this a drug that is consistent with most people, seems like a trend that sleep drugs work and then dont.
Anyone in a postion to say YESS ambien works every single time?

Ambien and Lunesta are both sometimes effective for long term use. Only Lunesta is officially approved for long term use though, its just a matter of licensing.

Hi Willy
>Thanks ed,yeah i thought the old ambien was more controlled.
As far as I know, Lunesta, Ambien and Ambien CR are all schedule 4 controlled drugs in the US.
>I know of ambien and i know of it having a very similiar structure toa benzo, but not quite being a benzo
Neither Ambien nor Lunesta is structurally similar to a benzo. Both drugs bind to benzodiazepine receptors in the brain though. Ambien is more selective for alpha-1 receptors than Lunesta. Benzos are non-selective. I guess you could say that Lunesta is actually more benzo-like than Ambien.

>Lol youre not gonna let me off the hook here huh,lol did u ever see my myspace page, you think i know about chemical structures lol i was just saying what i heard somewhere, but i will definatly take your word for it as you just made me think to hard and i need an aspirin now.j/k
Well lunesta stunk for me,so ambien is my last try along with making daytime adjustments to help me sleep, but my sleep doc who doesent believe in medication, mind u i dident know this till after i spent a lot of money there, was kind enough to give me lot of tips i could have found on my own or used common sense, like dont nap, etc.
But thanks ed,.....are you an actual pharmacist now ?

No :)
I looked up Xyrem on the computer at work, it wasn't there. No surprise!
